AMR in Conflict Settings webinars
AMR in Conflict Settings webinars
Prolonged conflicts around the world have devastated health systems and left millions without access to adequate health care, shelter, and clean water and sanitation. This has created environments where drug-resistant infections can thrive.
In these two webinars (English-language and Arabic-language) hosted by the Fleming Initiative, expert speakers from a range of disciplines highlighted their work on the different drivers of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in conflict settings and what can be done to address the issue.
Speakers particularly emphasised the recently published npj Antimicrobials and Resistance research article ‘Unravelling the linkages between conflict and antimicrobial resistance’, but drew from a range of other work.
The Fleming Initiative is grateful for the support of the International Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ISAC) in delivering this webinar.
Jointly established by Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, the Fleming Initiative brings together scientists, policymakers, clinicians, commercial partners and the public to provide equitable solutions to antimicrobial resistance at a global scale.
