SPEAKER BIOS
Professor Jian Li is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents (IJAA) and an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, and the American Academy of Microbiology. He heads the Laboratory of Antimicrobial Systems Pharmacology at the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, Melbourne, Australia. His research focuses on antimicrobial pharmacology and drug discovery, highlighted by the development of a novel antimicrobial lipopeptide advanced from concept to clinical trials. Professor Li serves as an invited reviewer for more than 200 international journals and over 35 funding agencies worldwide.
Professor Athanasios Tsakris is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Global Antimicrobial Resistance (JGAR). He has been a Professor of Microbiology at the Medical School of the University of Athens since 2006. He graduated from the Medical School of Athens and received postgraduate training in clinical microbiology at North Middlesex University Hospital and the Central Public Health Laboratory in London. He obtained his PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London. He is a Fellow in medical microbiology and virology of the Royal College of Pathologists, London. He has served as a visiting professor at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Dr Tsakris has been a Scientific Advisory Board Member in the EU for research on antimicrobial resistance, and has acted as an evaluator of research programs in several organizations. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Global Antimicrobial Resistance of the ISAC.
Caroline Moors is an Executive Publisher at Elsevier. She is responsible for a list of infectious diseases journals, including the ISAC journals, IJAA & JGAR. Based in Amsterdam, Caroline brings over 15 years of experience in journal publishing, having previously worked for SAGE and Emerald Publishing in the UK.
Professor Marco Falcone is an infectious diseases specialist whose work centres on the clinical and molecular epidemiology of multidrug‑resistant organisms and improving prevention and treatment strategies. He has led national and international studies on anti‑infective agents and published extensively on major infections, with 130+ indexed papers, 4000+ citations and an H‑index of 34. His work has appeared in top journals and earned major awards, including the IDSA Emanuel Wolinsky Award. He co‑authored ESCMID MDR‑Gram‑negative guidelines, serves on SIMIT and ESCMID boards, is a frequent invited speaker, and is Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pisa.
